It's still quite bizarre, getting to grips with my surroundings in such a new and different place. I've got to the point now I've been here for two weeks that I'm on autopilot when doing my journeys and walking around town. It's nice to have a sense of familiarity, to feel at home. I miss my family a lot and I miss my bed and my stronger-than-average shower that halls doesn't quite compare to but I've never felt in a happier or more creative frame of mind.
My trip to the beach yesterday morning left my headspace swimming with pebbles and their spherical softness. Abstracted marks derived from the colours of the shore were cut into pebble-shaped pieces today, which I again jigsawed together to create a piece similar to my last.
Studio work was slow today - I spent a lot of time working on my written Critical Studies assignment as opposed to practical work - but the studio was also quiet itself. Of the four of us that made it in after yesterday's student night antics, a few hours work seems pretty successful... Fingers crossed tomorrow will be more productive after a proper night's sleep!
